About Our School

A 2015-2016 School of Excellence, Hacker Valley Elementary School is a rural, multi-age school that focuses on the development of the whole child.  A variety of learning strategies are utilized within the school to meet student needs.

Field trips are employed to promote student understanding of the world and state in which they live.  Technology is used as a tool to bring the world to Hacker Valley students.  Studies integrate the arts into the curriculum; older students act as mentors for younger learners; and one-to-one instruction benefits students.  Relationships between students, staff and the community are emphasized and fostered to promote a positive educational experience.

This pre-school through eighth grade learning center has established unique partnerships within the community.  Holly River State Park, Hacker Valley Senior Citizens, and the community at-large serve as official mentors for the school.  Projects frame learning with such things as a Monarch garden, a greenhouse, robotics, and the the raising of Brown Trout incorporated into the learning process.  Authentic experiences are the foundation of developing learners and citizens.
